After wrapping up the Let’s Pretend Gallery project, my solo exhibition, the Wall Stories book launch and selling out the full run of books, I was ready for a new challenge.

Tattooing had been on my radar for a long time. I designed and got my first tattoo in 2003, and spent years around tattoo culture in Melbourne, particularly at Tattoo Magic in the mid-2010s when Mayonaize was working there. Between hanging around the studio, observing, talking shit and spending many hours getting tattooed myself, I developed a strong interest in the craft and the process behind it.

I eventually decided to try my hand at tattooing properly, completing an apprenticeship at Compendium Tattoo Studio and supplementing that experience with online tattoo courses, ongoing drawing and, most importantly, learning through tattooing.

I now work from a private tattoo studio in Melbourne, where I split my time between tattooing and painting. Although I have only been tattooing professionally for a couple of years, I have already completed multiple large-scale back pieces alongside a growing body of custom tattoos that bring my own graffiti, illustration and painting style into the medium
