Trisha decided that her St. Kilda institution Robarta was due for some changes.

After some renovations and a coat of paint, she asked me to come up with a plan to paint a feature wall. Trish was keen on getting a portrait painted.

I find that when painting portraits, if I know the person that I am painting then I do a better job. I want to do them justice. So I asked my friend Jessica if she would model for the shot. Another friend Whitney provided a studio space and painted Jessica’s face while Nella P1xels took the final shot. The girls did an incredible job. Jessica, Whitney’s painting and P1xel’s photos looked great.

It was up to me to try my best to replicate what they had produced onto the feature wall. I called in my good matey Mayo to assist with some of his awesome signature lettering to add some sharp graphic elements to the artwork. I thought that the best way to paint the wall would be with minimal colour.

Mayo used black on the white wall and I kept the portrait to grey scale using a bit of gold in the background to push it forwards.
